Galleria Gottardo - a cultural foundation of Banca del Gottardo, continues its collaboration with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, started in 2001 with the exhibition “Il ritrovo degli artisti. Brief history in images of the collector Peggy Guggenheim”, that met with a great success.
Drawn from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s permanent collection, The Spiritual Landscape presents masterpieces by leading artists of the European avant-garde: Albert Gleizes, Vasily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Piet Mondrian, Gabriele Münter, and Emil Nolde. This intimate exhibition explores the ways in which these artists related the theme of nature to notions of spirituality in the pivotal phase that preceded the inception of abstraction in their work.
The Spiritual Landscape comprises paintings, watercolors, and woodcuts from the core
of the institution’s holdings, many of them purchased by Solomon R. Guggenheim himself in the 1930s and 1940s.
